Dos and Don'ts

This page contains valuable information about Safety, Parking, Dogs, Loud Noises, Trash Containers, and a few other miscellaneous items.

SLOW DOWN!
Cars speeding in the neighborhood continue to pose a real hazard, especially for pedestrians, children, pets, and other motorists. There are no sidewalks in our neighborhood forcing children and adults to walk and ride bicycles in the street. Please slow down and drive cautiously and courteously for everyone’s safety.

PARKING WITHIN THE COMMUNITY:
Each driveway in the community is deeded property of the house it sits in front of (from the right side of the property line to the left side of the property line and from the front of the house to the street curb).  Maintenance of this area is the responsibility of the property owner. When parking in a driveway the vehicle including any overhangs must be parked within the property lines. You or your guests may not park in any driveway without prior approval of the property owner. If you have a problem in this area, contact the N.C.C Police at 573-2800. It is NOT permissible to park on the street at the end of a driveway (including your own driveway) or to park along the YELLOW curbs or in front of the mailboxes. Parking a vehicle on the grass is not permitted.

DOGS:
You must clean up after your dog! It is the Law. Please be considerate of your neighbors and the appearance of our community. Do not walk your dog on your neighbor’s yards or on the planted area at the front entrance.  Pet waste is unsightly and unhealthy. Many dog walkers are doing a better job-we thank you! DO NOT ALLOW YOUR DOG TO RUN LOOSE in the neighborhood. This is a violation of county ordinance.

LOUD NOISES:
Please remember your neighbors when you play the radio, stereo, TV or other audio equipment or when having friends over, having a party or rehearsing a band. Keep the noise to an acceptable level. This is especially important as the weather gets nicer and we have the windows open and people are spending time outdoors. Loud noise could bring the police to your door.

TRASH CONTAINERS:
Fairway Falls Declaration of Restrictions, Section 8, states: “Trash receptacles within the premises shall be kept in enclosed areas, HIDDEN FROM VIEW, excepting that on regular collection days trash receptacles may be placed TEMPORARILY at the curb for trash collection purposes.”

New Castle County Code States:
“All trash and garbage left outside one’s residence awaiting pick-up must be stored in containers with lids at all times. Trash may not be left sitting in bags or boxes.”

We continue to experience a problem with trash receptacles and bagged trash appearing in front of homes on days other than trash collection days. This creates a very unsightly appearance in our community. In addition, we are inviting unwanted critters, cats, dogs, and birds to get into the trash and scatter it throughout our yards and streets.

OTHER CODES:
Please pick up all trash and debris on your property.
No unregistered/inoperable motor vehicles are allowed.
No high weeds or grass.
No signs of any type, except a single “For Sale” sign.
